A daily report is given to for each child through our Learning Genie App to update each family on mealtimes, nap times, toilet training and all activities accomplished each day.
Our infant program provides a warm, welcoming environment where babies can grow from a bundle of joy to a bundle of curiosity. The baby’s primary caregiver is a nurturing child development professional that is focused on creating experiences and opportunities that invite exploration and support the rapid and important development that is occurring at this early age.
12 to 24 months At this age, children are meeting new challenges as fast as they come. Our toddler rooms allow the toddler to move and explore their world. Crawling, walking and eventually running are levels they accomplish in what seems like a blink of an eye. Our caregivers are dedicated in helping each child develop these skills through a trusting and loving relationship. Activities will include music, stories, art, outdoor play, blocks, and much more. Children learn best if they are in a stimulating environment. Toddler groups are small to ensure individual needs can be met.
At this age, children are more coordinated and begins to explore their world even more. 2-year-olds learn through play and teacher led small group activities. They will begin to play with others, form friendships, pretend play, as well as become more independent.
Our preschool program is filled with investigation, exploration, and discovery, where active and enthusiastic children can refine and expand their skills and knowledge. Through intentional teaching practices, purposefully designed learning environments, and enriched activities, our children development professionals ensure preschoolers have joyful, appropriate, and meaningful learning experiences that lead to success in school and in life.
ScreeningTwo Steps Ahead Early Learning Center uses the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) screening tool; parent permission is required for children to be screened. Parent input is involved in this screening process. All students enrolled in the School Readiness Program will be screened as directed by the School Readiness Program. All other students will be screened at the beginning of the school year.
All teachers have been trained to use/administer the ASQ tool. Children are screened by their child’s teacher in their own familiar classroom. If developmental concerns arise, parents will be notified and referred to professional agencies such as Early Steps and School Readiness for further screening.
Teachers will use learning assessment tools that come with their respective curriculums for documenting children’s progress in the classroom. These assessments along with screening information, classroom observations, samples of students work, and anecdotal records will be used to determine children’s progress during the school year. Teachers will use screening and assessment results to guide curriculum planning and develop goals for individual children. This information will be shared with parents at conferences.
Children’s screening and assessment records will be kept confidential in locked classroom files. Results of the screening or assessments will only be accessed/shared with the parent/guardian who enrolled the child, teaching staff, administration or appropriate professionals (with the parent/guardian’s written permission) for the purpose of supporting the child’s growth and development.
